Typically, stress, boredom, and anxiety trigger nail-biting. Others may chew their nails when they are frustrated or lonely. From there, if you have gum disease, the bacteria can enter your bloodstream and lead to a variety of other health issues.
However, there can be other repercussion. For instance, did you know that if you bite your nails, you could wear down your teeth and ultimately have an uneven bite? Similarly, you might be surprised to know that if you chew your nails, your tooth could fracture.
Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to break the nail biting habit. For example, try treating yourself to a manicure, keeping your nails short, and using nail polish.
